Product Description The 2nd generation CBX-300 CD receiver system is a blend of style, direct iPod integration and superb music performance. The focus has been on providing an accomplished mix of CD, MP3, WMA, iPod and radio playback. It sports a black saran net across the entire frontage, giving it greater appeal wherever you decide to place it. The CBX-300's construction supports exemplary audio fidelity, especially for the low-end frequencies. The design also incorporates speaker developments such as Onkyo's own OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) diaphragms and Aero Acoustic Drive technology. OMF is a pure, ultra-fine cotton weave that absorbs vibrations and enables a fast, accurate response. In addition to playing CDs, you can slot your iPod directly into the CBX-300's top-loading dock to access your AAC and MP3 files, podcasts, videos and photos. Unlike the bulk of music systems aimed at incorporating the iPod, this CD receiver system has been designed to deliver serious audio quality and lively music playback. The accompanying remote control gives you more functionality, such as the ability to skip through tracks or switch to shuffle mode. The CBX-300 also includes a video output terminal for output of your iPod's videos or photos. poor tuner January 6, 2009 Stephen Bobb The tuner is really poor quality. i.e., it is not as good as the boom box it replaced. Most people may be looking for the ipod dock and cd player, but to hear new music, radio is still the source.
It's AMAZING...!!! January 6, 2009 IzzyInMiami (Florida, UUSA) This item is completely what it says it is. I love the fact that it has a radio too. I can never find something I can play my iPod with and listen to radio with also. And the sound is just amazing!!! It's SO loud!!! It's also very nice to look at; the design is also very beautiful.
I totally recommend this product. You will not regret it!!!

Very Disappointed December 23, 2008 C. Schultz (Cincinnati, OH USA) First of all let me tell you that I am not an audiophile. However, I do appreciate quality. I purchased this product under this premise.
The reason that I sought this product out was to play music in my office at work. Nothing too fancy. I have listened to Onkyo speakers/receivers in the past and have really been a supporter of the Onkyo brand. I have always thought they have been synonomous with quality and performance. Again, I purchased this product under this premise.
I set this radio up with no problem at all. Just plug and play. However, I noticed that it was constructed of a cheap-looking plastic to which I did not pay too much attention. I turned the radio on first to see how it sounded. IT SOUNDED AWFUL! I thought it theoretically could be the reception (I have never had a problem before with any radio). I tried different locations and stations to no avail.
Next, I tried the Ipod. This sounded a little bit better but the sound was not crisp. Also, the bass was almost non-existent. It sounded remarkably average, if that. If I had paid $50 for the this I would not have been disappointed. But I paid $200 for it. So needless to say I am very disappointed.
If you have another $150 to spend get the Polk I Sonic 2. If not, go out and buy another similar radio for about $100 less. You will be just as happy and $100 richer. I would not recommend this at $200. I would pay no more than $100 for this product. I am very disappointed that Onkyo would allow a product like this to have their name attached to such an average to poor product. I really like the Onkyo brand, but will second guess any purchase I make with them again.
Amazon was great and got the product to me very quickly. Thank Amazon!
Good product December 17, 2008 Gaurav Kumar (Bellevue, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this after returning the Bose Wave CD system ($499). And I must say that Bose will not be missed. The system looks good, has 4 alarms and includes iPod/iPhone dock. The sound, at least in my opinion, is as good as Bose Wave system. And best of all, it costs half the price of Bose.
Great Value Ipod System December 1, 2008 averagepunter (Massachusetts) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was on the verge of buying a cambridge system for over $100 more, but thought I would give this a go based on the excellent reviews here and elsewhere. Having owned a couple of sub $100 ipod speaker sets, I was a little apprehensive about the likely sound quality of this system that seems to promise a lot at a low price. I am no expert but all I can say is - It Delivers. Bass is more than adequate, and volume loud enough to fill a 25' x 20' room without any distortion. FM reception is great using the supplied indoor antenna. A real plus is the portability of the unit with the easy carry handle. Very, very pleased with this purchase.
