I-touch like media player January 3, 2009 H. Messer (Midwest) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wasn't expecting alot from this player, and was pleasantly surprised once I received it.
The player comes in a nicely packaged box that contains the player, a poorly written operations manual, a rubber/silicone protective cover for the player, a touch stylus pen, ear buds, a 2 ft long USB cable and a electrical wall outlet charger.
The player does have the listed 16gb of memory. It has played all the music files I've thrown at it, with only 1 small glitch of recognizing the artist Def Leppard as Spanish Castle Magic (It was in alphabetic order under artist name, in the D's, but had the Spanish mess-up name shown)??? I'll have to check the ID3 Tag's for them.
The sample music track that comes with player has lyrics that scroll across the display in time with the music. I have no idea how to set that up with any of my music, but thought it was pretty cool. This is something that I may have to check into some day.
The sound quality is pretty good. The player's default setting has the highs alittle too high and almost no lows to hear. There are several pre-programmed EQ setting that can be used to change the sound output. There is also a manual 5 band EQ if you don't like any of the pre-program settings. I personally turned the Lower freq's all the way up and lowered the Highs slightly. With this adjustment, using either my Bose headphones or Philips ear buds, the player sounds really pretty good.
The LED touch screen looks good and bright. The touch sensitivity is hit and miss at times... The stylus seems to work best with the screen and making selections, but the stylus has no storage dock/place on the player. Am I suppose to carry it around in my pocket?? That's not going to go well. I finally placed it along the side of the player, between the protective rubber skin and the player; It's not a great choice, but better than in my pocket.
I worry about the battery life of the player. Even fully charged (Per the charging screen that is displayed while plugged into an electrical outlet), which took ~3 hrs to fully charge the first time, it never showed a full battery on the display meter while playing your first music or movie selection. After ~2 hrs of music playing, with alot of the LED display active during this period, the internal battery meter now shows 1/3 battery remaining. In my opinion so far, its OK, but not great.
The player comes with a couple of sample videos, that really shows off the 3 inch screen well. The voices in these videos matched the characters mouth movements, so no problem of delayed sound was observed here as in other owner's reviews. I still have not loaded any of my videos. The samples videos are listed as .RM files. I've never seen this format before, nor have I checked any of my video converts for this format. I am also not sure what the optimum pixel size should be for videos on this player, due to the poorly written manual. But I hope and believe that I'll be able to find something that will work as well as the sample videos.
The player comes with a sample game. I have no idea how to play it and the instructs do not explain anything about it. I tried playing it once and it locked up the player. I had to hold the power button for ~5 seconds to re-boot the player. I think I'll just stay away from the games on this device.
The Text/book portion is OK. It's not great, its not bad. It just is. Being able to rotate the display screen and enlarge the type font would be nice. I'm not sure if that's possible or not.. something else for me to explore in my free time.
All in all, this player is well worth the money and costs alot less than other name brand players out on the market. For me, the cost completely beats any slight quality issues.
don't buy it January 2, 2009 Hector Arroyo 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this item from 1 month and now this item is getting a blue scream and is inoperative to read the expansion memory, only the internal drive if you look for a mp4 look elsewhere, seriously. Don't ways your money on this.
Wicked media player EVER!!! December 31, 2008 Tyrone Newman This media player holds 16 GB just got it today and its tight. Also the sound is great even without the earphones didnt do the video convert yet but the watching videos on this is great. ITS BANANAS FOR THE PRICE, IF YOUR NOT GOOD WITH ELECTRONIX LEAVE IT ALONE December 29, 2008 Jonathan C. Barabin (BEAUMONT, TX USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE, IF YOUR NOT GOOD WITH ELECTRONIX LEAVE IT ALONE. i WILL SAY THIS DUE TO THE WAY THE REVIEWS WERE GOING I WASN'T GOING TO GET IT, BUT, I AM VERY HARD HEADED. WHEN IT CAME IN I WAS VERY HAPPY BECAUSE IT ONLY TOOK A FEW DAYS. NOW THE PLAYER ITSELF IS VERY LIGHT IN WEIGHT AND THAT SURPRISED ME, BECAUSE ANY OF IT'S COMPETITORS WEIGH AS MUCH AS A HUMAN FOOT. TURNING IT ON IT HAD A FULL BATTERY SO I JUST IMMEDIATELY START PUTTING STUFF ON IT. BUT FIRST I HAD CATEGORIZE IT. WASN'T HARD AT ALL JUST MAKE 3 NEW FOLDERS AS FOLLOWS: VIDEO,PHOTOS,MUSIC, AND YOUR DONE JUST START ADDING STUFF. NOW THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THAT THE GAMES SUCK BUT HEY THATS WHY I HAVE A PSP FOR, OH AND SOMETIMES WHEN I START A MOVIE IT CUTS OFF SOME TIMES, BUT YOU JUST TURN IT BACK ON. THE ONLY VIDEO THAT WOULD NOT TRANFER WAS RMVB FILES EVERY THING ELSE DID TRANFER WITH EASE. SOUND IS GREAT BUT I DONT USE THE HEADPHONES THAT CAME WITH IT, OUTSIDE SPEAKER IS AWESOME ITS LOUD. YOU BARELY TOUCH THE SCREEN AND IT MOVES VERY IN SYNC WITH YOUR FINGER OR STYLUS. I'LL SAY THIS FOR SOME PRODUCTS LIKE THIS THERE ARE SOME BAD APPLES BUT THIS ONE I HAVE IS FULL OF AWESOMENESS. IF YOUR NOT INTO THE TECHNICAL SIDE OF GADGETS YOU'LL GET FRUSTRATED, THINKING THAT IT WILL WORK LIKE AN IPOD TOUCH OR SOMETHING. ITS NOT AN IPOD ITS TONS CHEAPER AND SUPERKEWL FOR THE PRICE, I CAN USE THE EXTRA $145 TO DO ANYTHING WITH, SO PEOPLE OUT THERE AGAIN ITS NOT AND IPOD ITS GENERIC BUT IT DOES THE JOB NICELY. ALL IN ALL A GREAT PRODUCT BETTER THAN ALOT OF MP3/MP4 PLAYERS OUT THERE SO BUY IT AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK. AGAIN IT IS NOT AN IPOD TOUCH JUST ITS CLOSE NEIGHBOR FROM ACROSS THE STREET .
Great knock off for the technologically shy. December 28, 2008 Jennifer Beard (Virginia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this mp3 player for my boyfriend for Christmas. He really wanted the Ipod touch but I just could afford that nor couldn't see shelling 300 dollars for something I wasn't sure he could care for properly. He loves this player. Me however I don't. I'd like to think of myself as knowledgeable in the latest electronics and I always buy the best for myself. I would have never bought this for myself. This is great for a kid you don't mind spending 80 bucks on. Every time I plug in this player, it reverts back to Chinese and I have to keep doing the touch calibration all the time. Its ridiculous. I purchased the 16gb and it never came with a stylus, but all the reviews I read, said it came with theirs. You don't really need it, but it helps if you have manly hands and not feminine. All in all, it really does play the songs great and I even added some of our pictures so he can take them with him. I recommend using the ear buds because the speakers sound horrible and aren't loud enough. I really kinda wish I had never bought this and I had just forked over the money for the Ipod Touch. But for now, as a temporary player, it does its job but I wouldn't get it for someone who is used to quality products.
