1 out of 5 stars Total Junk   November 2, 2008

Is there a way to give zero stars!

Received item in sealed container, but ...

There was some kind of nasty film all over the outside of the receiver.

Did it work? No, the transmitter failed to link up with the receiver. Called for service and they gave me an RMA number. Sent it back on my nickle only to have it returned 2 weeks later, supposedly tested, supposedly a new unit, still not working, same nasty film (different unit so the film must be a feature), and missing a few parts at that.

A total writeoff.

BTW, the tech on the phone confirmed that they reship repaired units as new. Not my words, his. So it isn't Amazon's fault.

3 out of 5 stars Satisfied... but not impressionated!   October 6, 2008

The product offers the features what I expected, but frequently the signal is missing and the sound goes off. By moments, the sound cut off makes the amplifier to make a feedback sound that provoke the system to enter in a "protect" lockout.

4 out of 5 stars Great product!   June 23, 2008

I brought this set to avoid

1. running wires all over my music room (I would have needed at least a 10 ft cable)
2. avoid the drop in signal quality were I to use a cable

It does need a few seconds to "pair-up" but after that it works like a charm.

I listen to internet radio a lot and the first I set this up I got bad audio (lowered frequency response for the geeky types). After messing around, this workaround did the job: keep the streaming audio level as low as you can, and then hike up the computer's and audio system's volume to suit your taste.

The reason I cut back this review grade by one star: I would have preferred there to be a RCA (male) to RCA(male) pair of cables (receiver to my audio system's AUX in) in the box...i will be buying one independently.

I'm hoping to use this set up for a fancy phone i'm buying next month!

2 out of 5 stars sending it back   November 20, 2007

I got this one evening and I quickly read the instruction book and hooked it up. I had my Zen Vision M in my bedroom and my stereo and it's receiver in the living room (about 25 ft away, down a straight hall then a left turn behind a glass door in cabinet). My first complaint is that the receiver has a stationary antennae in both height and direction. It cannot be moved or rotated to help in finding the transmitter or in fitting in furniture. It's about an inch too high for the cabinet that holds my receiver. This created a problem, as the cables weren't long enough to reach into a different height cabinet. I had to lay it on it's side.

I went back to the bedroom and started it up and for about 5 seconds was just amazed at how well it worked. Then it cut out. Five seconds of buzzing till the pieces found each other again. Then five seconds of music. Then the whole thing repeated. The booklet said it could take up to three minutes for the pieces to sync, so I waited, and waited, and waited. Every now and then I'd get music for up to a few minutes, then lose it entirely. I cannot figure out why...the pieces were not moved, nothing came between them, I was not on any other wireless equipment. I gave up for the night and shut the transmitter off with a slide switch.

Next day I reread the booklet and redid the whole thing--tried the receiver in different plugs, moved it in the cabinet, stood it up or laid it at an angle, etc. While doing this, I had my MP3 right there in front of it. I eventually got it working with no cut outs and it worked very well. You do have to work with the volume control on all pieces to get clear sound, if one piece is too loud it got fuzzy.

Now that it was working well, I started to carry the MP3/transmitter back to the bedroom. No sooner had I removed it from directly in front of the receiver, when it lost the signal. I waited but it never sync'd.

I went back to the components and decided to try the receiver in yet another spot. The booklet says to turn the transmitter off when doing this, so I did. I moved things around and went back to turn on the transmitter and discovered the whole on/off switch had come off and I could not find it anywhere. The piece is only about 1/4" wide and less than 1/2" long so it's itty bitty. I looked, I felt around, I even swept the floor hoping to find it, but nope, never did. This was only the third time I turned it on and it's broke already?

At this point I had put hours into trying to get this to work right and unless I had the player/transmitter actually laying on the stereo receiver next to their receiver, it did not work. Couple this with the on/off switching breaking off, I gave up and am sending it back.

When the two pieces were in contact, the sound was great through all the speakers in my home. But having to keep my player be in a cabinet in my living room means that every time I want to change the music or view what's playing, etc. I would have to get up and go out there and open the cabinet. If I wanted to keep doing that I'd just play my old CD's in the CD player in that cabinet. I like having the MP3 player beside me so I can glance at what's playing and choose music on the fly. Can't do this with it stuck in a cabinet in the other room.

4 out of 5 stars Works great   January 16, 2007

I use this with my Zen Vision M all over my apt and it works great. Music quality is superb and the range is not a problem. I get occassional drop outs when I'm using my laptop via WiFi, or if I use my microwave, but only sporadically then not at all for another 30-40 mins, otherwise it'd get 5 stars.
